Shiro lepa
Shiro lepa is another form of panchakarma therapy and it is extremely useful in the treatment of diseases related to scalp and skin. It is useful as a rejuvenation therapy as well. As the name suggests this is performed on the scalp and it includes the application of a paste of various herbs and medicinal powders on the scalp. The scalp is then covered and tied with certain leaves which allows the herbs to interact well with the scalp. This helps in nourishing the scalp and the head. The most common paste that is used in shiro lepa therapy is buttermilk and amalika. Procedure
In this treatment, medicated oil is applied over the head and body. In the next stage, a herbal paste is applied over the head and this is covered with leaf. After 60-90mins, the paste is removed and the oil is wiped off. After the removal of the herbal paste, the head and body are again smeared with medicated oils and given bath in warm water.
