When back pain becomes persistent for more than 3 – 6 months there is a high chance that it will stick and become a chronic pain. 3 – 6 months is the time period required to heal the back muscles and spine in case of an injury. If pain exceeds this time period, then it clearly indicates that the injury have not healed in time, or even worse, have severed.
In some cases you cannot link the cause of your pain directly to an incident like an accident or surgery. These pains are owing to the constant practice of unhealthy body postures. Bad postures will take it’s toll on your spine and back muscles , over time. When this occurs there won’t be a visible cause that might’ve resulted in pain.
Things you could do before taking treatment.
So, when you experience sudden back pain without any visible causes, you should restrain yourself from indulging in any activities that cause strain to your back.
When you experience back pain, lie down on your back with legs raised at right angles till knee. You may place the feet on chair or block for support
Ayurveda suggests that our body remains in perfect balance when all three bio-elements vata, pitta and kapha are in perfect balance. According to ayurveda back pain is a vata ailment. So you should stay away from foods that increase vata element like, rice, curd and lemons as this aggravates the pain. Eat light and easily digestible foods. Try this for the next 3 months and see if there is a relief.
